When You Are Handed Lemons-- MAKE HEXIS!!

Yes, my machine is still at the shop so --  I thought I'd try my hand at English Paper Piecing.  I made a small table topper.  It still needs backing, quilting and binding, but all the hexis are joined and the paper is removed.

I decided to make flowers for a Grandma's Garden wall hanging.  Here is one flower I have together.

Here is a pile of hexis I've basted.

These are some of the red ones for the Scrappy Challenge.  I really enjoy making these -- I like hand sewing and they are portable
.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.  Hopefully by next weekend I'll have my machine back.  I miss it:(

  1. Hope you machine comes back soon, but you have made good progress with the hexies. I really must get around to making some, I used to love doing them when I was younger

  6. Isn´t it annoying when you don´t have a sewing machine and want to sew? Your hexagons are looking nice though, and you could make a nice red project with them, if your machine doesn´t return soon.

  7. Well your great hexagons are counting up, but I bet you'll be happy when your machine is finally fixed. Good thing you don't mind doing the hand sewing.

  11. I find it great to have a mixture of hand sewing and machine sewing to do - it's good you are coping without your machine. Your hexies are looking lovely - that's a good pile of basted ones ready to sew!!

  15. Nice flowers, my sewing machine had a broken part just before Christmas. The part is hard to find and expensive so I bought a new machine, only went a few days without. Although I don't sew every day, knowing my machine didn't work was annoying. Glad you had your hexies to hand sew on.

  16. You found a perfect time to make the hexie flowers while your machine is away. Although you have some nice blooms, I hope your machine gets back to you soon...
