Oh, Boy, I'm Lucky!!

Today I got a special package in the mail!!  I have to send out a big thanks to Vickie at Sugar Spun Quilts.  Vickie generously shared some of he Denyse Schmidt fabric stash with two lucky readers and I was one of them.  Wow, I can't believe I won.  Check out my beautiful new fabric:)

I'm not sure what I'm going to make with this bounty -- I'll keep you posted.

One Flower Wednesday --

I really did work on my project this week, though you have to look close to see it. I added two flowers and and a bit more than a dozen stepping stones. There is a small section that isn't attached all the way. It is actually starting to look like something. I am seriously thinking of making a wall hanging -- not so large as an actual quilt. (Or...... Maybe a baby quilt.) What do you think? Let me know.

One Flower Wednesday - Check Out My Progress!!

I really don't have much to say, but I like to show what I do each week.  It keeps me working when I am held somewhat accountable.  These are my connected flowers.  I think they are looking fine.

Last Week

This Week
This is my flower of the week.  The color is a vibrant orange,  the picture doesn't do it justice!!

Please leave a comment.  I have to admit I'm addicted to kind comments.

Signs of Spring-- Yardwork Ahead!!

Guess what??  We actually have some spring in our neck of the woods!!  We always get a flock of flickers in our yard each Spring  and it made me smile when I looked and our visitors had arrived. See this handsome fellow:

Our fish in our tiny pond are swimming in the sun.

Here are the first flowers to show up--

Forsythia:

Daffodils:

My mother gave me these bulbs about six years before she passed away.  They never bloomed.  I thought that the hungry little chipmunks ate them.  The year she died there was one beautiful bloom.  Of course I took this to mean my mother was watching out for us from heaven.  Now ten years later there are many many blooms.  Thanks Mom:)

These are actually tiny, tiny, daffodils.

Hyacinth:

Many of my flowers, bushes and trees in the yard came in the form of gifts from my son Glenn.  When my younger son was still in school the joke was Glenn bought the plants, Josh planted them.  Josh still comes home in the summer and says "Mom do you need me to dig any holes in the yard?"   I usually do:)

After the horribly snowy winter look at all the sticks that need to be picked up before I start mowing.  This will take days to do.  Hopefully I'll get some help.

And of course there are always nice spring puddles to contend with.  I'm not complaining though, you have to take the good with the bad.  I'll be posting other posts about my yard this summer.  I hope I don't bore you--but I LOVE my yard.

One Flower Wednesday: I Love My Pretty Posies

Since my last post my flowers are growing slowly but surely:)  Last post I had 23 flowers and 34 stepping stones.  Now I have 25 flowers 46 stepping stones .  Here is a picture of my joined flowers:

You can see my progress if you look at my last post.

I didn't have many comments on my last post because somehow I "lost" my pictures.  I think I fixed the problem. (Fingers crossed)
I had a comment on April 9th:

Wow, those are lovely! I'm just visiting for the first time, but how large are you making this piece? I cannot wait to see how it progresses!

First, thanks for visiting and commenting, Jenny.  To answer your question I'm not really sure how large I'm making my garden.  I had visions of a double bed size, but I may change my mind.  I love the handwork, but the progress is VERY S-L-O-W.  At any rate, I'm sure I'll still be working on it next year at this time:)

If any of you have not visited Jenny's blog, I advise you to correct the situation immediately.  She makes lovely things and has great tutorials.  I have to admit I enjoy seeing the little man (her son) she posts about.  He is soooo cute.  (Almost as cute as my grandsons, lol)

Just One More Thing -- I'd like to know what all of you are making with your flowers?  This is not a rhetorical question -- I need answers!!  Can't wait to hear from you.
