My Yard -- Take a Look

My little helpers helped me plant these pots for the front porch and the front of the house:

The two ornimental ponds:

Most of my azaleas were ruined by all the rain:

Other blooms:

And the Winner is...............

Congratulations to Dawn.  I don't use a random generator -- my oldest grandson picks the winner!!  Instead of picking numbers from a hat I just asked him to pick his favorite number  from 1 to 164.  He chose #147.  I found it amusing to find that Dawn is a pharmacist --and so is George's Mom and Dad!!  I also was so thrilled to see how much his health has improved since the last giveaway!  Just take a look

Now:

Then:

Well congratulatios again, Dawn.  George will choose a runner-up if Dawn doesn't contact me by Friday 12 p.m. EST.

Thanks to all who entered and became followers.  I hope you continue to visit.  I hope to be having a very special giveaway in the next week -- check back to join the fun:)

One Flower Wednesday, So Scrappy Rainbow Challenge, THON

Here are my four flowers for One FlowerWednesday and for my Soscrappy Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  I would love to have more to show, but still NO SEWING MACHINE.  I'm supposed to get it early next week and what a happy day that will be.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO READ THIS IMPORTANT MESSAGE:
Most of you know that my four-year-old grandson George has leukemia.  This weekend we are going to PENN STATE to participate in THON.  This is a weekend to raise money for the Hershey Medical Center to help the children with cancer.  The Penn State students work very hard to make this weekend a huge success.  Use a search engine to find out more about Thon -- it is the largest student-run philanthropic event in the United States.  If you live in PA -- you've probably seen the students "canning" for the kids:)

My daughter Allisa --Georgie's Mom-- recently posted this on facebook:  PLEASE CONSIDER SIGNING UP!!  We'd appreciate it and please leave a message that you've signed up as a comment here.

With THON right around the corner, I'm asking everyone to check out/sign up for the iGive program I've started.... it's completely FREE for you, but will help raise money for The Four Diamonds Fund - which is priceless! http://www.iGive.com/TheFourDiamondsFund Any questions... just ask. THANK YOU!!!

Thanks for your consideration -- Carol

Thrift Store Finds

On Monday my friend Kathy and I went shopping.  We hit our favorite thrift store and look what I found!!

Fabric -- Fabric-- and...............more fabric!!

I also found this awesome piece of wool which I promptly felted.
One of the pieces of fabric was this beautiful panel.

I believe the designer's name is Robert Kaufman.  Not sure what I'll do with it yet, but I love the animals and the colors.  I'll cut it apart for sure and get coordinating fabrics.  I just love it!!
AND......here is a picture of something I found when I returned home:)  She has nothing to do with thrifting or fabric--but oh she is cute.  She also has big news to tell:   I GOT MY FIRST TOOTH!!  Congratulations Lexi, you make your Mom Mom smile.

The Big Bowen Christmas Party:)

Tonight we went to our annual Bowen get together at my sister-in law Cher and her husband Harry’s home.  Cher always has their home decorated beautifully.  She has a that special touch.  The Bowen family is ever growing with new babies and marriages.  This year there were 43people.  The food was great and a good time was had by all.  We celebrated my father-in-laws birthday.

We exchanged Christmas gifts and some of them were handmade.
Cher knitted us all this adorable Snowman Ornaments --THAT IS A LOT OF KNITTING --when you are making so many.

My mother-in-law, Pat, cross-stitched some Kate Greenway patterns for Emily and Ali, two of her seven great-grandchildren.

And............... I made this Crewel picture for Cher who just adores pansies and chickadees!!

And this has nothing to do with the Christmas get together........
Cher made this absolutely gorgeous quilted wall hanging for ...... her bathroom!!  She is such a talented quilter.  On a later blog post I'll show you the quilt she made for me. (It will make you all jealous.)

And I have to show a few pictures of the kiddos...
Grace with her Mommy and Nanny.  Grace's sisters were Em and Ali in the cross-stitch pictures.

Drew, Georgie and Lexi -- our adorable grandchildren.

Jack

You have to admit Bowen Babies are Pretty Babies!!

And Just One More Thing .....................

This is my niece Kassy with Lexi.  She has been our best and most consistent helper since George's diagnosis.  The kids adore her and so do I.  Thanks Kassy.

Here she is -- our princess.

OK I've waited long enough.  Here are some pics of my favorite little people.  My three grandchildren.
